Most Polaroid frame templates online are close to the right shape, but not quite. This page uses the print and picture sizes Polaroid and Fujifilm publish, so each frame has the right shape, with the picture centred and the wide strip at the bottom. Use the frame maker to put your own photo in a frame, grab a blank PNG, or scroll down for giant photo booth frame sizes.
Put your photo in a Polaroid frame
Choose a photo, pick a film format and move the photo inside the window. Your photo stays on your device: the frame is drawn in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
The print-size file is 300 dots per inch at the real size of the film, so it prints at the size of a real Polaroid or Instax when you choose 100% in the print dialog. The social file is 1080 x 1350 pixels, the portrait shape Instagram uses, with the frame on a plain background. Leave the photo out and you get a coloured frame with a see-through window, which is handy for your own edits.
Free blank Polaroid and Instax frames (PNG)
Each frame is a PNG at 300 dpi and true size, with a transparent photo window. Drop it over a photo in any editor that supports layers. The print sheets have several white frames with grey cut lines on US Letter or A4, ready to print and cut out for scrapbooks, cards or a party table.

Real Polaroid and Instax frame sizes
Polaroid and Fujifilm publish two numbers for each film: the size of the whole print and the size of the picture area. These are the figures from Polaroid's support pages and Fujifilm's Instax film pages.
| Film | Print size | Picture area | Used by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polaroid i-Type / 600 | 88.47 x 107.52 mm3.48 x 4.23 in | 76.8 x 78.94 mm3.02 x 3.11 in | Polaroid Now, Now+, I-2, Flip, OneStep, 600 cameras |

Sizes are width x height with the wide border at the bottom. Instax Wide is held sideways, so it is wider than it is tall.
The Polaroid picture is a little taller than it is wide, 76.8 x 78.9 mm, so it is not quite square. All three Instax formats share an 86 mm print side and a 62 mm picture side, which is why they look alike side by side.
Neither maker publishes the width of each border. The frames on this page centre the picture from side to side, as it is on real film. The top border comes from measuring the makers' own product photos and size diagrams, so it is close but not exact: about 6.4 mm on Polaroid i-Type and 600, 5 mm on Polaroid Go and 7 mm on Instax. The bottom border is whatever is left. Every format, with costs and the cameras that take it, is on ourinstant film sizes page. For how the film formats compare in use, see Instax Mini vs Square vs Wide and Polaroid i-Type vs 600 film.
Giant Polaroid frame for a photo booth
A giant Polaroid frame is a cut-out prop that guests hold up for photos at weddings, birthdays and school events. It looks right when it keeps the real proportions: thin borders on three sides and a deep strip at the bottom for a name, a date or a hashtag. The sizes below are scaled from the real i-Type and 600 print, so every prop is the same shape as the film.

Sides, top and bottom are the border widths around the photo window. The top and bottom are scaled from measured, not published, figures, so treat them as close guides. Board size is the smallest common sheet the prop fits on.
Materials
- Foam board. Light, cheap and easy to cut with a craft knife. Sold in 20 x 30 in and 30 x 40 in sheets at most craft and office stores. It dents and can warp in damp weather, so it suits indoor parties.
- Corrugated cardboard. Free if you have a large appliance box. Glue two layers with the flutes running in opposite directions so the frame stays flat, then give it a coat of white primer.
- PVC foam sheet. Stiffer and water resistant, so it lasts for outdoor events and repeat use. It is heavier and harder to cut. Score it several times with a knife along a straightedge, or use a jigsaw on thicker sheets.
How to make a giant Polaroid frame
- Pick a width from the table and draw the outside rectangle on the board. Use a carpenter's square for the corners, then check the two diagonals are the same length.
- Measure the side, top and bottom borders in from the edges and draw the photo window.
- Cut the window first, while the board is still large and stable. Make several light passes with a sharp blade against a metal ruler, and change the blade when it starts to drag.
- Cut the outside edges.
- Paint the frame if the board is not already the colour you want. Two thin coats look better than one thick one.
- Write on the bottom border with a paint pen, or use vinyl letters. Keep the text inside the middle two thirds so it stays clear of hands.
- For heavy frames, glue a strip of wood or a second layer of board along the back of the bottom border to give people something to hold.
Frequently asked questions
What size is a Polaroid frame?
Polaroid gives the i-Type, 600 and SX-70 print as 88.47 x 107.52 mm (3.48 x 4.23 inches). The picture inside it is 76.8 mm wide and 78.9 mm tall, so it is a little taller than it is wide. A Polaroid Go print is 53.9 x 66.6 mm with a 46 x 47 mm picture.
Is 4x6 a Polaroid size?
No. A 4x6 inch print is a standard photo lab size. A classic Polaroid print is about 3.5 x 4.2 inches, and the picture on it is about 3 inches across. Polaroid does sell a Hi-Print 4x6 printer, but it makes dye-sublimation prints, not instant film.
Why is the bottom border of a Polaroid thicker?
The wide strip holds the pod of developing paste. As the print leaves the camera, rollers burst the pod and spread the paste across the picture. Instax prints work the same way, which is why they also have a deeper border on one side.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere when I use the frame maker?
No. The frame maker runs in your browser. Your photo is drawn on a canvas on your own device and the PNG is made there too. Nothing is sent to a server.
How do I print a frame at the real size?
Choose 100% or "actual size" in the print dialog, not "fit to page". The files are 300 dpi, so the 1045 pixel wide i-Type frame prints 88.5 mm wide. Each print sheet has a 50 mm bar you can measure with a ruler to check.
How do I use a Polaroid frame PNG in Canva or Photoshop?
Upload the frame PNG and your photo, put the photo on a layer below the frame, and resize it until it fills the see-through window. The frame maker on this page does the same thing in one step.
How big should a giant Polaroid photo booth frame be?
For one or two people, 24 to 30 inches wide works well. A 30 inch wide frame with true Polaroid proportions is 36.5 inches tall with a 26.0 x 26.8 inch photo window. For groups, go to 36 or 48 inches wide.
Can I use these frame templates for commercial projects?
Yes. The blank frames and print sheets are free for personal and commercial use, and you do not need to credit this site. A link back is always appreciated.
